The popular German automaker BMW has been working on electric vehicles for quite some time. However, instead of focusing only on four-wheelers, a new fully electric scooter concept was recently shown with the aim of capturing a share of the electric scooter market in the near future.
Dubbed the “Motorrad Definition CE 04”, this unique scooter concept from BMW looks very different from the average Honda. According to the manufacturers, the Definition CE 04 is designed for the urban lifestyle and will take you from one point to another without polluting the environment.
“A scooter is not a ‘fun bike’ to take for a ride in the mountains in good weather, but a practical everyday vehicle for driving home to the office or meeting friends at night, just a vehicle for every day in the city ”, said the head of BMW’s Motorrad division, Alexander Buckman.
Straight from the 22nd century!
At first glance, the Motorrad Definition CE 04 looks like a two-wheeler straight out of the 22nd century. It has a fairly long body with very low ground clearance. The battery that powers the electric motors inside is located under the scooter. And since it is efficiently positioned for storage, there is a small compartment, enough to fit a safety helmet, under the driver’s seat.
The designers made the scooter in such a way that it shows the technology inside. This is the reason why the side panels do not completely cover the rear of the vehicle. According to the company, this almost transparent design gives the scooter a more modern look than any other scooter on the market.
Now, there is no news on when or if the company will make it commercially available. However, BMW says it wants to “redefine the scooter segment” in the near future. So we can expect the company to launch a similar electric scooter on the market soon, if not the CE 04 itself.
