Google, as we know, has been hard at work on its Android and iOS photo app to keep up with the competition. So now, the Mountain View giant recently announced a cool new feature for Google Photos to turn your normal images into realistic 3D images. They call it “cinematic photos” as it will convert any 2D image into cinematic 3D using artificial intelligence.
Thus, this feature will allow you to revisit your memory in a way where you will feel as if you were taken to the very moment you clicked on the image. In simple words, it will display a normal image from your gallery in 3D, even if the actual image has no depth information.
You’ll use machine learning to visualize the depth of an image and create a 3D representation of the scene. After this, the app will use a virtual camera to add smooth panning to the image. This will produce a 3D cinematic effect for a 2D image in no time.
Google Photos will automatically create the images when the feature is available to the public next month. You can surely turn it off if you want by tapping on your profile picture and then going to “Settings -> Memories -> Advanced -> turn on / off cinematic photos”.
In addition to this, Memories will now feature some of the most important people in your life and very soon you will be able to showcase your favorite activities like hiking, biking, etc. Also, you can now block certain people and time. Settings windows so you can avoid a collage of the most embarrassing pictures in your gallery.
