Thane police arrested a man for creating a fake Facebook account in the name of a Maharashtra minister and posting objectionable content on it, an official said Tuesday.
The police registered a crime here on April 8 this year and their cyber cell investigated the case.
Following the investigation, police last week arrested the 28-year-old defendant, who worked as a hired supervisor at Waluj in the Aurangabad state district, said cyber cell inspector Balkrishna Wagh.
A mobile phone used by the accused to create a fake account on social media was also seized, he said.
The defendant has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, he added.
